Metalenses have significant differences from conventional lenses that require extra consideration for lens metrology. Metalenses are generally fabricated on wafer, which presents an advantage in terms of metrology at large scales. A metalens metrology tool can be designed to work with arrays of lenses on wafers, rather than just individual lenses. A single wafer designed for mass-production of metalenses can contain thousands of lenses and an appropriate metrology tool can measure them in quick succession. Properly set up, the metrology processes for metalenses can have greatly enhanced throughput by reduction of loading and alignment. The metalens fabrication process can be used to fabricate elements with a wide variety of optical functions. In addition to lenses, one optical function is that of a linear diffraction grating, commonly referred to as a “beam bender”. Another function is that of a “beam generator” or “structured light generator”. However, for this article only the characterization of metalenses will be discussed. Moxtek’s

Moxtek® offers off-the-shelf metalens solutions for a wide range of optical applications. These flat-optic metalenses provide a compact and efficient alternative to traditional bulky, curved lenses. Utilizing Moxtek’s proprietary nanostructured “meta-atom” patterns, these metalenses are specifically engineered to modify the phase profile of incident light, enabling precise and efficient light redirection. Unlike conventional lenses that bend light through thick glass curvature, metalenses manipulate local phase shifts using advanced subwavelength nanostructures. This cutting-edge optical technology enables the development of innovative and next-generation devices.

This article discusses the current status of X-ray sources (tubes and power supplies) used in handheld X-ray fluorescence instruments. It outlines the basics of the tube and high-voltage power supply (HVPS) design and the functionality of X-ray sources designed specifically for handheld X-ray fluorescence (XRF). Further, the testing methodologies of the tubes and power supplies are discussed. Finally, the selection criteria for the X-ray source for common applications are presented.

Learn more about the specifications of the MOX140G, by looking over the detailed MOX140G Fan Beam drawing. Moxtek manufactures low-power miniature X-ray sources for a variety of applications including handheld XRF, Security and NDT and benchtop instruments. Moxtek sources are small, lightweight and can be packaged into customer enclosures. MOX140G is ideally configured for backscatter and traditional imaging. MOX140G is capable of running at 140kV (max). The MOX140G Fan Beam drawing will help you determine if this is the right fit for your application.

High energy imaging in a compact package. MOX140G is a complete X-ray source that is ideally configured at:

High energy imaging applications (140kV) compact (3.5in x 3.5in x 5in) lite weight 1.55kg (3.4 lb) package.

Side window tubes have approximately 30% higher x-ray flux compared to end window tubes, which helps in applications that rely on counting low numbers of photons, such as X-Ray Diffraction (XRD).

• Caution: Initial cold warm up requires a 3 second ramp to full output. • Operating Temperature: Moxtek recommends a warm up period of 10 minutes before running below 0°C. • Radiation Leakage: Moxtek takes every precaution with radiation leakage but it is up to the end user to make sure there is adequate protection for your needs. Consult with an application engineer for your specific application. Learn more about the MOX140G by clicking this link for the datasheet.
