Photonic Crystal Guided-Mode Resonance Sensors for Optical Diagnostics

Moxtek has achieved low cost, wafer-scale manufacturing of photonic crystal, plasmonic and other hybrid structures. Here the application of TiO2 photonic crystal guided-mode resonance structures for label-free sensing and microarray based surface enhanced fluorescence based detection is presented. The structures exhibited an average 7.7 fold fluorescence enhancement over a reference glass slide for Human IgG, IgM, IgA, and streptavidin-biotin assays and also exhibited a 2.5nm spectral shift following the attachment of a self-assembled monolayer, thereby exhibiting the capability for detecting sub-monolayers thicknesses.
